Lincomycin is an antibiotic produced by a variant of Streptomyces lincolnesis. Lincomycin is indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci and has been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of staphylococcal infections resistant to other antibiotics and susceptible to lincomycin. Lincomycin ( HCl) is administered intramuscularly and intravenously.
Lincomycin can be used on cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, and horses.
