The WINDSTAR ENERGY story...
After 5 years of exporting coal out of Torboneo, WINDSTAR ENERGY founder and President Director Heri Bastian MBA realized that inefficiencies in the current transport system were needlessly adding millions of dollars in transport and operational costs to mining, rail and port organizations in the Backwater region.
He solution? An effective, integrated coal transport system which would save mining organizations money by eliminating the duplication of resources in each company while maximizing/ optimizing use of the existing infrastructure.
Her belief in the validity of this approach brought about the beginnings of WINDSTAR ENERGY in 2000.
WINDSTAR ENERGY oversees all facets of the coal chain from mine to Port and is therefore able to offer its clients:

Mining organizations need only one point of contact to schedule their rail and shipping requirements and to manage their stockpiles at the Port. Resources which would otherwise be tied up in President Director the mine' s transport and stockpile requirements can therefore be redirected to the core business of producing coal.
In addition, the variability of rail requirements can be reduced by sharing spare capacity within the coal corridor.

WINDSTAR ENERGY exports in excess of 12 million tons per annum from Central Banjarmasin for 3 major coal mines through the ports of Torboneo, South Kalimantan Bay and batulicin Point.
With each additional mine that utilizes WINDSTAR ENERGY' s service in each rail corridor, the flexibility and efficiency of the system is augmented.
WINDSTAR ENERGY also recognized the significance of the port congestion that commenced in KALIMANTAN coal ports in December 2003 and so has tracked the data and provides updates to the coal industry and various Government agencies on a weekly basis.

With a combined 10 years experience in Dispatch/ Demurrage settlement, WINDSTAR ENERGY is filling a niche in the world coal market. With increasing export tonnages over the last 8 years, company â € ˜ buyoutsâ € ™ and staff downsizing, many marketing and procurement departments are struggling to process the increasing amounts of dispatch/ demurrage.

Logistic Scheduling
WINDSTAR ENERGY models the supply chain some 3-5 months before vessel arrival when first contacting buyers for thir shipping programmed. The model takes into account truck haulage, rail, port and stockpile capacities to ensure sufficient coal will be at the railhead and port, before accepting the vessel indication. The benefit of modeling provides early warning of deficiencies and decisions can be made to move the vessel to a more suitable arrival window. As the vessel' s eta draws closer, the model is updated with actual daily operational activities which extrapolate the forecast truck, rail and port data to continually update the future stock position at the estimated arrival time of the vessel.
WINDSTAR ENERGY' s modeling delivers timely information to marketing departments of impending problems or, in turn, additional opportunities for spot sales. Rail and port stockpiles are optimized as WINDSTAR ENERGY dovetails the production output from the individual mines as ' peaks and troughs' in their production naturally occur. WINDSTAR ENERGY completes the process, at an operational level, once the vessel has been loaded and sailed.
