Specification :
Characteristice: A low molecular weight resin containing approximately 81 percent vinyl chloride, 17 percent vinyl acetate, and 2 percent maleic acid. Because of the carboxyl functional group, VMA has excellent adhesion on metal, especially on aluminum foil, the resin foil also has a good adhesion on PVC , ABS, paper, textiles, beton, etc. At the same time, VMA offers a desirable balance of chemical resistance, solubility, diaphaneity, film strength, and thermoplasticity. It has excellent interbedded adhesion.
Solubility: VMA is characterized by a high degree of solubility in solvent systems having a high aromatic hydrocarbon content. When dissolved in a suitable solvent/ diluent combination, such as 25 percent ketone/ 75 percent aromatic hydrocarbon, resin solutions of 30 percent solids can be achieved. Ketones is a particularly good solvent, and esters is the relatively weak solvent. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloroethane and 1, 2 - dichloroethane can completely dissolve VMA, and methyl chloroform and tetrachloroethane can only swell it. Aromatic hydrocarbons have a good role in the swelling, generally using with ketone.
Application: VMA yields the good balance of solubility and viscosity properties needed for high-build, air-dry maintenance finishes, and is often used to make coatings and adhesives applications where higher solids are desirable. VMA can be used in air-dry finishes, such as maintenance, marine, and metal coatings, interbedded adhesive, aluminum foli varnish, UV surface treatment, UV primer, thermal transfer adhesive, shoe adhesive, ink-jet and metal inks, etc.
