Bone Meal
Description
Considered the best natural source of phosphorus, bone meal also contains calcium and some trace minerals. Steamed bone meal ( 1-13-0) is a non-feed grade product made by steaming ground bones for 1.5 hours at 260 degrees F. The fats and tallow melt out and some nitrogen is lost. Steamed bone meal has the advantage of being less dusty than precipitated bone meal.
How it works
The extremely slow availability of nutrients from bone meal make it a very safe fertilizer, especially when planting of potting very young or new plants.
General usage
Bone is used as a long-lasting source of phosphorous as well as low levels of nitrogen, potassium and calcium. Excellent for bulb plantings. Also good for reducing transplant shock and promoting extensive and healthy root systems
