Sun Mining Company Limited, a medium scale minerals exploration and sales company with significant interests within the gold and diamond producing locales in Sierra Leone became active in the Sonfon Basin, Diang, Sierra Leone in 1946 having changed ownership thrice since.

Originally called SierraGold Ventures, it was relatively managed by the Diang chiefdom and a joint party of business men who provided resources for the work force.
