The principle of measurement is based on proven electronic load cell
technology used in conjunction with a
mechanical drive and electronic signal
processing.
The Digital Portable Hardness Tester
( EH-01) is a small portable instrument
which can measure the fracturing /
breaking point of tablets ranging from a
minimum size of 2 mm to 28 mm. The
EH-01 is a battery operated portable
unit which can easily be used
in-process with several tablet presses.
The EH-01measures the compressive
force every hundredth of a second with
an accuracy of ± 0.5% of the full scale
and measures and displays the peak
force used to fracture the tablets.

Hardness Tester is ideally
suited for the food, pharmaceutical,
detergent, dairy, animal feed, pesticides
and any other industry that requires
compressed tablets.

The menu gives error messages on the
LCD screen for “ overload� and other
errors.
The tablet is placed on a platform
between 2 precision ground platen
jaws, one of which is attached to the
load cell and the other to a manual
mechanical drive. During testing, the
manual jaw is driven forward by
turning the knob which gives a gentle
movement and presses the tablet
against the fixed jaw. The process
continues till the tablet is fractured and
the breaking point is registered by the
instrument.
The instrument does a self test on
being turned on and also has an
automatic “ 0� reading on start up.
A sliding guard has been provided for
safety from flying debris during the operation. A collection tray has also
been provided to collect broken bits of
the tablet after the operation.
