Indications:
1. For aversion to cold, fever, headache, adiaphoresis and arthralgia due to exopathogenic wind-cold-dampness, the herb is often used in combination with ledebouriella root ( Radix Ledebouriellae) , chuanxiong rhizome ( Rhizoma Ligustici chuanxiong) , atractylodes rhizome ( Rhizoma Atractylodis) , etc. To expell wind, disperse cold and relieve pain, as in Notopterygium Decoction of Nine Ingredients ( Jiu Wei Qiang Huo Tang) .
2. For arthralgia due to wind-cold-dampness, pain in limbs and joints, especially pain in upper part of the body, the herb is often used together with ledebouriella root and turmeria ( Rhizoma Curcumae longae) .
