Characteristic: white crystal powder, odorless, sweet; dissolve in water and hardly dissolve in ethanol or aether.
Main use:
Medicine industrial aspe ct: mannitol injection can reduce intracranial pressure, intraocular pressure; eliminate hydrocephalus; promote urination; prevent high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, brain fever; also be good for diabetes; furthermore, mannitol is often used as auxiliary product for producing medicine.
Microbiology aspect: mannitol is the good culture medium for some microbe.
Synthetic chemistry industrial aspect: mannitol is the main raw material of manufacturing mannitol synthetic fatty acid ester, mannitol-epoxy dimethylmethane aether and hard monoglyceride.
Food industrial aspect: mannitol is often used as food additive.
