Ruqyah meaning in terminology is al-' udzah ( a protection) used to protect people affected by diseases, such as heat because stung animals, possessed, and others. ( See An-Nihayah works of Ibn al-Hadith fi Gharibil Athir rahimahullahu 3 / 254)

In terminology, ruqyah sometimes also referred to by ' azimah. Al-Fairuz Abadi said: " The term ' azimah-' azimah is ruqyah-ruqyah.
