Getting Started
1. You need to get one USB Wireless Adaptor for each desktop you want to put on the network. Once you plug in the USB Wireless Adaptor into the back of your PC, it should do an automatic plug and play set up. You will have software that comes with the device also.
2. If you already have laptops that do not have built-in WiFi capabilities and are not ready to upgrade to the latest technology, then you can get WiFi cards ( sometimes called WLAN card for wireless local area network) to fit in the slot called a PCMCIA slot where you put in a modem card for example. These cards come with software that you load in to the laptop and â € œ sniffâ € out the wireless networks around you.
3. So, you make sure your wireless USB Adaptors/ built-in WiFi Laptops/ WiFi laptop cards â € “ PCMCIA cards are all set up and the computers loaded with the software and get ready to WiFi.
4. For those who are outside the 300/ 500 meter range but within the WiFi coverage and having a line-of-sight to the wireless base station, can purchase a set of Customer Premise Equipment in order to get connected to our wireless internet service.
