Flame ionization detector ( FID)

Flame ionization detector ( FID) detects hydrocarbon down to 0.1 nanogram and responds linearly over a majority of its range. FID uses a stainless steel jet to mix the column flow with hydrogen gas and burns it at the tip. Hydrocarbons ionize in the flame and are attracted to a metal collector electrode. Detector is not contaminated by dirty samples or bleeding columns— permits calibrations to stay accurate for long periods. Detector’ s ceramic ignitor glows permanently to prevent flameouts and re-ignites when flame is flooded with water. Order air compressor under accessories to provide air for the FID flame. Convert FID to a NPD easily by replacing the ignitor with a thermionic bead.
