The modular Jaz spectrophotometer is assembled into a compact, yet powerful instrument for application well beyond a benchtop instrument. The Jaz OLED/ keypad module is the user interface; handling data processing and logging, distributed computing, and user interface functions shown in the display.
An advanced pulsed xenon light source is ideal for wide-range UV/ vis measurements and consumes very little power— maximizing battery life in field and remote applications.
In transmission dip probes, light is transmitted from the illumination fiber through a plano-convex lens and through the sample compartment to a flat, second-surface mirror. The light reflects from this mirror and is focused by the lens onto the read fiber. The advantage of the transmission probe is its compact optical design, which fits into a 6.35-mm ( 1.4" ) OD stainless steel body, or ferrule.
The dip probe consists of two 300-µ m solarization-resistant optical fibers— one illumination fiber and one read fiber— in a 3.175-mm ( 1.8" ) OD stainless steel assembly that slides into the stainless steel ferrule. One leg of the probe assembly is attached to the light source module and the other to the spectrometer sensor module. Probe optics are mounted with an epoxy that offers superior chemical resistance to most solvents and can tolerate high temperatures. Probe path length is 10-mm; max operating pressure for the probe is 100 psi ( 6.9 bar) , max operating tmperature is 212° F ( 100° C) .
The optional 83500-50 Cuvette Holder attaches directly to the spectrophotometer and couples via optical fiber 83500-51, creating an incredibly small-footprint spectrophotometric system for fluorescence and relative absorbance experiments. Optional cover 83500-52 can be used to eliminate ambient light and to block the light path when taking dark current measurements.
