The Dell PowerEdge 2400 combines good redundancy options and performance in a well-thought-out chassis. Although we preferred the class-leading IBM Netfinity 5100 overall, the PowerEdge is nonetheless a fine choice. Dell has added embedded hardware RAID and hot-swappable power supplies to its excellent tool-free chassis. The internal drive bays can support six 1-inch or four 1.6-inch drives; a bracket change is all that' s required to enable the switch. The system comes standard with a single hot-swappable power supply but can accommodate two.
