Indications and Usage
Apple Polyphenols are those phytochemicals which can be found in the skin of apples that are not yet ripe. Of all the phytochemicals in apples, polyphenols play an important role, their main function is protection against oxidation. Apples had the highest portion of free phenolics when compared to other fruits, this means that these compounds are not bound to other compounds in the fruits, and the phenolics may be more available for eventual absorption into the bloodstream.
Major apple polyphenols include: epicatechin, caffeic acid, phloridzin, phloretin, avicularin, reynoutrin, hyperin, isoquercitrin and quercitrin. Among these bioactive compounds, phloridzin and phloretin, respectively, havs also been proven to be of great positive effects in preventing cancer, maintaining bone health, and treating diabetes and other age-related diseases.
