DEFINITION An explosion and flame proof motor EEx-d is a rotating machine which can work in an environment with the presence of gases and/ or explosive or infiammable fumes without causing internal damage to the motor. It is in fact: Explosion-proof: its housing neither cracks nor explodes in case of an inward short circuit. Flame-proof: it doesn’ t allow the exit of gases and flame from the motor when the ambient temperature is critical. Explosion Groups Our motors have been certified for explosion groups II A • II B ( some II C) and reproduce the following identification marks: - GAS: ZONE 1 and 2 II 2G EEx d IIB ( some in IIC) . The standard EN 50014 and CEI 31.8 issue 459, state the type of gases and vapours included in each explosion group. See the list on the bottom of page. - DUST: ZONE 21 and 22 II 2D IP66 T 85° C, T 100° C, T 135° C, T 200° C in accordance with standard EN 50281-1-1 Temperature classes Our motors are certified for the temperature classes T3 - T4 - T5 ( some T6) . The Cenelec standard settles the correlation between temperature class and maximum motor surface temperature, Main characteristics - size 56 ÷ 225 - housing and shields in cast iron - mechanical protection IPW 557 - fan cover protection IP 2x - the motors are tropicalised - the cooling fan is in non-sparking synthetical material up to sizes 132, metallic upper sizes - alkilic paint RAL 5010 - screws: nickeled or cadmied - stainless steel nameplate - ball bearings type ZZ on both sides
