The newly developed products are named "GORMAND", which means gastronomist or gourmet. This foreign name is not easily accepted to some people, unlike Shenqi£ªs tradition of naming its products with classical works. Is Shenqi trying to attract attention by changing its tradition or a special trick? It is partially true. Shenqi products, such as edible fungus and health tea, are developed based on the TCM principles of ¡ùKing, Minister and Conveyer¡ì. Thus, products are named according to the nature. GORMAND instant food-bags, which include four flavors like lichee, strawberry, lemon and Hami lemon, are instant health foods. It is known that with the development of modern industry and rapid pace of life, people seldom have the opportunity of enjoying a delicious lunch with ease. Instant foods, developed as required, meet the needs of people nowadays. As mentioned above, GORMAND means gastronomist or gourmet. The products are thus named GORMAND, which embodies nature, health and deliciousness.

Most people are not really healthy.World Health Organization (WHO) defines HEALTH as good status of physiology, psychology and adaptability instead of being free from illness or physically healthy.

The WHO establishes ten criteria for being healthy.
    1. Energetic, able to perform burdensome tasks of daily life and work with ease and without much tension and tiredness.
    2. Opportunistic, enthusiastic, willing to bear responsibility, not fussy.
    3. With good rest and sleeping.
    4. With good adaptability to various changes in the outside world.
    5. Immune from common cold and infectious diseases.
    6. With proper weight, balanced shape and good posture.
    7. With bright eyes, mental acuteness and eyelids free from infection.
    8. With clean teeth, free from decays or toothache; with normal gums, free from bleeding.
    9. With lustrous hair free from dandruff.
    10. With flexible muscles and skins.

According to the criteria, most people are not identified as being healthy; instead, they are quasi-healthy, or between being healthy (the first status) and being diseased (the second status). Less than two thirds are really healthy and over one third are found to be in the transitional status between being healthy and being diseased. It is termed as ¡ùthe third status¡ì by the WHO and ¡ùquasi-healthy¡ì by Chinese. Usually, one is said to suffer from disorder or disease. However, in ancient times, disorder is different from disease. Disorder refers to the common disease that is not easily detected. If not properly treated, disorder will develop into disease, which is visible. The status of having disorder is referred to as the third status or quasi-health. In the traditional Chinese medicine, the status is termed as ¡ùnon-disease¡ì. Non-disease does not mean being free from disease or being visibly diseased; instead, it means that the human body has appeared to be out of balance in terms of ying, yang, chi and blood as well as organs. Our ancestors have long realized the existence of the status. In addition to actively searching for treatment of diseases, they have found a variety of measures to prevent diseases. According to Huang Di Nei Jing, sage treats non-diseased people instead of diseased people. Medical treatment for those who have been diseased is as late as drilling well when one has felt thirsty or as recruiting soldiers when in a war. It is clear that our ancestors understood the importance of prevention.

If properly treated, the third status may be converted into being healthy. Otherwise, it may be converted into being diseased. Researches upon quasi-healthiness are essential to modern life science.

Even though they are free from visible diseases, those who are quasi-healthy are found to be unhealthy to some degree in terms of vitality, organs, tissues, physical equilibrium and cells (the most basic components of the human body). For example, they are found to suffer from obesity, overweight, loose muscle and skin, fatigue, high blood fat, sclerosis of blood vessels, high blood viscosity, sleep disorder, depression, increased cell membrane permeability, reduced cell membrane mobility and thymus gland atrophy. They are all indications of unhealthy. Quasi-healthiness refers to low immune to diseases, increased vulnerability to diseases and lowered efficiency. Those under longtime quasi-healthiness will eventually suffer from visible acute or chronic diseases such as hepatitis, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, neurosis, tumor, repeated colds, rheumatism and bronchitis.

The status of quasi-healthiness is widely spread among white-collar workers who do not participate in physical labors. As they are not involved in injury-causing labors and as they are working in comfortable working conditions, white-collar workers do not have visible organic diseases. However, their way of life is harmful to health. White-collar workers take so little exercise that their heart, muscle, blood vessel, bone and endocrine are not properly used. As a result, their aerobic metabolism is kept at a low level. Absorption of oxygen and nutrition by human tissues and cells also remain low so that tissues and organs tend to be less developed. As time passes, certain tissues and organs will suffer from atrophy or disequilibrium. Overuse of brain, excessive stress and reduced exercise lead to lack stimulation to the nervous system. The brain tends to function less efficiently, or one may even suffer from neurosis. The prevailing way of life is unhealthy, for example, irregular lifestyle, excessive intake of alcohol, fats and proteins. Without sufficient exercise, less consumption of nutrients results in excessive nutrition. On the other hand, excessively refined foods result in malnutrition, as they do not have enough vitamins, polysaccharides, trace elements and active substances found in the peels and seeds of fruits. Therefore, white-collar workers are more likely to suffer from quasi-healthiness or even certain occupational diseases such as cervical syndrome, fatty liver, gastric ulcer, depression, and coronary heart disease. Older patients may suffer from stroke, tumor, diabetes or osteoporosis.
