Damascening is the traditional method for making decorative patterns on forged products. Two types of Steel, 1095 and 15 N20 are used for this process. The 1095 is a simple steel used to make a superior blade with the addition of manganese used to make the blade etch quite dark. On the other hands 15N20 makes the blade very tough and it provides a good contrast with its darker counterpart.
