Fly Ash
Additional Materials Concrete Versatile
Fly ash or fly ash is an additional ingredient mixture ( mortar) cement concrete to obtain high quality and economical concrete. Building materials of fly ash can be used both for the manufacture of concrete aggregate mix ( ready mix) , additional material paving blocks, mortar, brick. As an added ingredient of concrete, fly ash is considered to improve the quality of concrete in terms of strength, kekedapan water, and resistance to sulfate and convenience in terms of workmanship.
Fly ash or fly ash particles have the form of very fine granules so it can be filling the cavities ( filler) in the concrete so as to increase the strength of concrete and concrete kekedapan add to water and has the advantage to prevent fine cracks ( crack) on the surface of the concrete. This is because the fly ash and cement have in common the elements that have a bunch of the main building blocks of silicon dioxide ( SiO2) , aluminum oxide ( Al2O3) and Ferrum oxide ( Fe2O3) . The oxides can react with free lime cement released. When water reacts with calcium compounds making silikiat hydrate ( CSH) is needed to increase the strength of concrete and increase the resistance to sulfate ions and to reduce the heat of hydration of cement. With the utilization of fly ash 15% - 30% by weight of cement, then the amount of cement will be reduced significantly and increase the strength of concrete. Reducing the amount of cement can reduce material costs so that efficiency can be improved.
However, the use of fly ash can not be done arbitrarily. For if the addition of fly ash is too much the quality of the concrete is actually going down. Therefore an appropriate dose required for the addition of fly ash into concrete blends to suit the desired building conditions.
Benefits of fly ash ( fly ash) as construction material:
• Good for concrete aggregate mix ( Ready Mix)
• Material mix concrete roof tile manufacturing, paving blocks, bricks, etc.
• To mix mortar ( mortar yield) , stone masonry foundation, red brick and concrete block
• To mix mortar and ceramic mate benangan
• To mix plastering mortar, leveling the floor and acian.
Approximate composition of the use of fly ash ( cement weight 40kg/ zak) :
1. To a mixture of concrete mortar ( not the floor, Sloof, column)
Composition: Comparison of the dough is 70% of cement ( 28kg) : 30% fly ash ( 12kg) .
2. For couples ceramics, and acian benangan
Composition: Comparison of 50% cement ( 20kg) : 50% fly ash ( 20 kg) .
3. For stone masonry foundation
Composition: The comparison is 40% of cement ( 16kg) : 60% fly ash ( 24kg) .
4. For masonry or brick red
Composition: one zak fly ash ( 30kg) , mixed with the 10-12 basket sand plus cement sufficiently to suit the desired building conditions.
Analysis of cost calculation
Savings on material expenses:
For example:
• Price per zak cement 40kg: USD $ 42, 000 @ USD $ 1.050/ kg
• Price per zak fly ash 40kg: Rp 15.000 @ Rp 375/ kg
• Use of fly ash is a maximum of 30% by weight of cement
Reduction of cement weight 12kg ( 30% x40kg) substituted with fly ash of 12kg so there is difference in cost savings as follows:
• For the price of cement 12kg: 12kg x USD 1050 = USD $ 12, 600
• For the price of fly ash 12kg: 12kg x Fly Ash
