Chemical Barrier
A properly installed chemical barrier prevents entry of foraging termites into structure but does not eliminate the termite colony( i.e., foraging around the structure)

Installation
> Identify and inspect structures to be protected
> Identify areas of active infestation or probable activity
> Identify areas conducive to termite activity

Inspecting the Monitoring Device
> Be prepared to initiate Self-Recruitment
> Check stations at appropriate regular intervals
> After removing the top cap, remove the monitoring devices and look for termite activity.

How Insects Molt
Ø Insects have a cuticle which provides:
– Support
– Protection
– Prevent water loss

Hexaflumuron
Ø When hexaflumuron is ingested by a termite, it inhibits the chitin-synthetase enzymes
– This prevents the formation of new cuticle prior to molting
– The termite cannot grow because it is trapped in the old cuticle- it then dies
