The carrying system
The ergonomically designed
carrying system provides a high
degree of comfort and stability.
The shoulder straps and waistbelt can be adjusted independently. The complete carrying system is flame and chemical resistant. The cylinder strap The cylinder tightening strap is manufactured from Nomex1) material and incorporates a camlock mechanism. The strap is adjustable and can be
used to secure 6.0 Litre 300 bar steel cylinders as well as 6.8 Litre 300 bar carbon composite cylinders. Following
the manual tightening of the strap the camlock mechanism is locked with a single action ensuring that the cylinder is retained on the backplate with
maximum security and safety. The free end of the strap is then secured using a fabric fastener.
The backplate
Moulded from a composite material the backplate is anti-static, lightweight, durable and resistant to high temperatures and chemical attack. The pressure reducer
The Draeger PAS family utilises a wellproven pressure reducer giving the user the following features:
• High air supply rate – even when
supplying two users
• Constant, balanced medium pressure to ensure comfortable breathing
• Reliable, easy to service plug-in swivel connectors between the pressure reducer and the high/ medium pressure hoses The lung demand valves
The new Draeger PSS® lung demand valve combines proven components and technology with a number of improved features:
• The impact resistant plastic housing is encased in a silicone protection cover
• With only two sealing rings at the medium pressure hose connection, the ease of servicing and the reliability of the device is considerably improved.
• All connection versions when
attached to the mask, including screw types, provide a degree of radial movement to compensate for the head movement of the wearer.
• The newly designed balanced piston unit is quiet in operation. When not pressurised the balanced piston
chamber is held in the closed position, thus ensuring that the
heart of the lung demand valve is constantly protected against contamination.
List of components
Meticulous attention to detail …
is the principal by which Draeger carries out its development process, with every component of our compressed air breathing apparatus being subject to a
stringent continuous improvement programme.
Our products are developed in close consultation with experienced end users ensuring we are continuously open to innovative ideas and
provide equipment to match market expectations.
Personal Air Supply Approved …
Each personal air supply consists of the following components: basic unit, lung demand valve, mask and cylinder that together provide a large number of possible combinations. All combinations have been fully tested as per EN137 and certified according to the PSA directive 89/ 686/ EEC.Based on these tests the respective
device combination is registered with the EC Type Examination Certificate with the specification of the CE Mark. All compressed air breathing apparatus of the PAS family are certified according to the shipping marine equipment directive ( MED directive) and are marked
with the ship’ s wheel. Additionally, for all device combinations of the Draeger PAS Standard that have a lung demand valve with N or AE connection, the conformity with the vfdb directive 08/ 02 and thus the suitability to be used by German fire fighting
professionals has been confirmed ( approval for German fire brigades) .
