Dear Sirs,
Our company is an Estonian enterprise delivering different kinds of petrobitumen to Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Romania since 2002.
We work with many oil-refining plants across the former USSR. In 2005 we opened an affiliated company in Russia. Our Russian branch currently owns 108 specialized railway tanks (both 15-1532 and 15-1534 types) with heat insulation and electric heating system for bitumen transportation. This enables us to transport 5 200 tons of bitumen per trip.
Due to heat insulation, bitumen remains hot inside the tank for a long time; it can be easily warmed up prior to unloading, and does not demand of any pump stations or/and specially equipped cargo platforms.
The insulation is 20 cm thick due to which bitumen does not cool down for a relatively long time. Thus, bitumen having the temperature of +165’ C at the time of loading will reach the consumer after 14 day long railing with its temperature being +140’ C.
Being equipped with heating coils tank-cars can be easily and quickly heated up so that the temperature rises by 3-5 degrees an hour, and even in case the bitumen has completely cooled down it can be heated up over 48 hours.
Unloading of bitumen can be carried out through the upper aperture by means of squeezing-out with high-pressure air. This simplified procedure does not demand of any trestle approach or pumping stations.
Unloading of a tank-car can be organized at any site where there are 15 meters of railway, a 380 V/AC socket and small air-compressor with operating pressure of 1 kgf/cm2 (1.01 bar). Such railway cars allow delivering of bitumen directly to an asphalt-making plant or roofing factory without additional transfer reloading.

With kind of transportation is especially suitable for mobile asphalt concrete plants because a tank can be used as mobile storage of bitumen.
Bitumen can be transported by the sea. It can be heated (170°C) and loaded into tankers (1500-5000 tons) with a ship pump. Loading can be made in Klaipeda or Liepaja on the Baltic sea. Speed of load is 600-1200 tons per day.
We are now considering the possibility of launching petrobitumen export to Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic and other European countries.
The time from November to May seems especially interesting to us, since road construction works in Russia are not carried out during this period, and it is possible to buy greater volumes of bitumen at a better price.
We are able to deliver bitumen to Europe by railway through border stations: Chop (Hungary), Galats(Romania), Brest(Belarus), Bruzgi(Poland), and others. After the change of tank wheels on the border bitumen can be delivered to other stations in railway system of these countries.
