We export dry cochineal from Peru, South America. The quality of our cochineal is unique since it has a higher content of Carminic acid ( 19% - 21% ) . It ´ s a colorant natural for cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food industries, It is extracted and refined from the cochineal, it is an insect that is installed as a parasite on the prickly pear leaves ( Opuntia Ficus cactil) , whose sap is fed through an oral stylet. Its reproduction takes place in the same plant which hosts forming colonies. The natural colouring extracted from cochineal, contains two substances: carmine and carminic acid, which are harmless to man, so it is recommended as a natural coloring. The main ingredient is carminic acid. It is widely used as a colorant in jelly drinks, sugar, candy, canned food, sausage, western ham and other products. | ||
